The Very First Day 2019

Aliestre The Very First Day is a premium wine made from the original Portuguese varieties Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional and the noble Cabernet Sauvignon grape. The vines in Estremoz stand on a unique terroir - geologically, it is the edge of a quarry of slate and marble rock. After careful sorting and fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine matures for 15 to 18 months in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new - enough time to develop a remarkable richness of flavour and depth. Pronounced cassis and blackberry notes are underpinned by dark spice tones reminiscent of mocha and black liquorice. The fine-grained tannins carry all the flavours to a long finish.
